The Rich Life On a Budget

Silk Scarf Give Away and Visible Monday

Late last year, contacted me and asked if I would promote their handmade silk scarves. Like any responsible blogger, I poked around their website and Facebook page before I gave them a reply.

This is what I discovered:

~ They carry a beautiful, colorful and vast collection of luxury silk scarves and shawls.

~ Their products are each one-of-a-kind and hand-dyed using an ancient batik method.

~ There are no mass-produced items at, only unique pieces.

~ is a family-owned company based in British Columbia, Canada.

~ Their team of artists and designers create each design by hand, no patterns or templates are used.

~ They carefully and expertly paint each piece with an original design.

~ Their silk scarves are made from pure silk chiffon.

~ They are easy to care for by hand washing (instructions included).

So, of course I agreed to promote them! promptly sent me a sample to experience their products’ beauty and quality firsthand. They sent me this Sun Music 2 silk scarf in a 26.5″ x 26.5″ square.

Isn’t it vibrant and gorgeous? I love the olive and forest green shades. And the red poppies really stand out.

I styled the scarf a few different ways.

First, I wore it with my red slacks, leopard jacket, black and cognac gloves, and a vintage Mulberry satchel – a recent gift from a dear friend.

I simply folded the scarf in half, point-to-point, tied it around my neck in the back, then tucked it into my jacket.

For another look, I tied the scarf on my Mulberry bag, folding it lengthwise and securing it to one side of a strap. I find that this size, 26.5″ x 26.5″ is much easier to do this with than a 36″ x 36″.

For a more casual look, I wore it with a burgundy blazernew distressed boyfriend jeans from Gap, and burgundy ballet flats by Vaneli.

The scarf has a splash of bordeaux right across the middle section that is a deep red wine shade. has graciously agreed to give away a Sun Music 2 silk scarf like mine – but still unique – to a reader!

Retail price of this scarf is $138.00, currently on sale for $50.00.

Just gorgeous and I love the way you styled it. While yours is undoubtedly the loveliest, the “White Roses” scarf is also beautiful. Thanks for the opportunity to win one, and thanks for sharing it with Visible Monday!

  2. Kathy

It’s beautiful and you styled it so well. I like when a colorful scarf is mixed with other vibrant colors and prints. It’s great with the burgundy blazer and distressed jeans – a great juxtaposition to keep it (or any silk scarf IMO) from being to mumsy.
Sounds like a wonderful company, I love “local” and congratulations in advance to the lucky winner.

  3. Val Sparkle

What gorgeous scarves! I especially like the way you styled it with the red pants and leopard jacket (fabulous jacket!).

I did all the above entries except Twitter because I don’t tweet. And as for picking a scarf, god, pick one?!? Fortunately I love poppies, so Evening Poppies would be the one for me!

I’m going to share this giveaway on FB, my favourite scarf is Hundertwassers night. I can believe they did a scarf inspired by my favourite painter! How great and how unusual mostly because the pattern on the scarf is not a copy of a Hunderwasser work but it is inspired by his art…

  9. vintagefrenchchic

Very, very pretty! What a NICE giveaway. Poppies are such a fun flower…always remind me of France and Monet paintings for some reason :). And what gorgeous other offerings they have! I love the Van Gogh Starry Night and the Iris ones.

I recently bought 2 of their scarves & love them. My current favorite & next purchase will be Caprice. I’ve already liked Women Clothing Today on Facebook and also followed you through Google Friend.

I found your blog for the first time today and can’t wait to see more. I’d love to enter the contest. I just visited What an amazing collection to choose from. I fell in love with Silk Blouse Waltz of Maple Leaves the moment I saw it!

  13. Heather

YAY!! What a gorgeous scarf! I just found you via Pinterest and I’m thrilled that I found you in time for this giveaway!

I “liked” you on Facebook, as well as WomenClothingToday. I also added you to my Google feed. I went to the WomenClothingToday site and fell in love with *everything*! I think my favorite is the “Magic Moments” silk scarf. The abstract pattern is totally my style, and I love the colors.

That should be 4 entries for me! Woo Hoo! Wish me luck!

What a lovely thing to do! Thanks! I hope I got the right set to pick from….?

To be honest, I went to this page because I am obsessed with oriental poppies and could not restrain myself from looking at the add that popped up on my page. My TOTAL faves are the rarer crimson ones, although I have 5 colours growing in the garden and the pink is pretty darn pretty. My avatar on many sights and in my IM avi is a crimson poppy, too. They are so joyful, confident and unpretentious somehow. Don’t most of us aspire to be that way? (smiles)

I’ve been ill with neurological damage for a few years, but it’s almost completely healed. In the meantime I put on 30lbs, got seriously bummed out and toasted my savings. (winces)

Now the memory is back online, the sun is shining again and I’ve already lost 25lbs (woot!) Tthe rest will be gone soon. Anyhoo… I am sewing (budget issues) a whole new wardrobe for the big scary job hunt! I’ve made mix and match solids primarily in red, white and black, but will need a few accessories, so this scarf would be perfect in SO many ways!

Thank you again for this opportunity.

The scarf is on this page:

Ooppsie…. that was me above – the one making a new wardrobe to go back to work. I somehow signed in to Google but it came up anonymous. Caught it, thought! I also realized I had not done everything you asked, so here’s the list. Thanks! 🙂

    – liked your blog on FB
    – had already like the womenclothingtoday page, so undid and did it again. (LOL)
    – posted the giveaway on my page (
    – tweeted it
    – became a follower of your blog
    – chose a GORGEOUS poppy scarf simply called ‘The Poppies’ (

    So… all six, n’est-ce pas?

Thanks again for this opportunity. I can’t tell you how wonderful it would be to win! (Hugs!)

    @UnknownHi Alexandra,

I really hope you come back to see this reply. I sent you a Facebook message but I am pretty sure that it ended up in the “other” box.
I feel terrible to have to tell you that the silk scarf give away is over. The winner was announced on January 16th.
So sorry for the inconvenience. I am not sure why the promotion for this give away might still be circulating as I have not promoted it at all since its conclusion.
